One would not even say, M. R. Štefánik Park in Trenčín is more than 150 years old. It connects the city center with the train and bus stations and provides a pleasant environment for walking and sitting. J. Nozdrovický and I. B. Burian became the first founders of the park in the years 1860 - 1865. The park has been used for various celebrations and gatherings since the beginning. In the years 1856 - 1873, the park was affected by natural disasters, especially floods. There is a fountain on the edge of the park at the K. Pádivý Elementary Art School. The original monument of M. R. Štefánik from 1938 by J. Pospíšil, which was later removed for ideological reasons, used to stand on this place. Only the bust of the original monument has been preserved, which is now part of the new monument in the shape of a broken wing according to the design of the academic painter Juraj Oravec (from 1998). There are several other sculptures and monuments in the park.
